28, no real friends, no stable direction in life, everyone I grew up with is already married with kids. I might actually be Reigen, just without the charisma or passion for his work.

You're absolutely right. Reigen was projecting his insecurities to Mob, that's what i also think. In reality, he's the one with no real friends. Also yep i believe he was having a panic attack in that alley

I love how this show portrays Reigen, and all its characters really. No matter how objectively good someone like reigen is, his personality sometimes has him make mistakes in how he treats mob, and that doesnt make him a bad person, just a flawed one, yes he is his mentor, and he instilled good values in him, but he can still mess up, or have misconceptions because he's human, him being a mostly reasonable adult in a sea of delusional ones doesn't mean he has no room to grow. Most shows have eighter perfect mentors who cant mess up, or their messups are treated like a joke and glossed over, reigen simply stays true to his character and when he seriously messes up, its treated seriously, when its not big of a deal, its treated like a joke. This show is amazing

I really like how this arc demonstrated the unhealthy codependence between Mob and Reigen. On the surface when we first see it, you think its ideal. Mob gets an intelligent adult figure to help with his problems, and Reigen gets someone to help with higher paying real spirit jobs. However, when Mob starts to change for the better, Reigen still sees the depressed kid he can coax into melting ghosts. Reigen attempts to preserve the dynamic instead of being happy for Mob, which ultimately pushes him away entirely. I feel bad for Reigen, but he put himself in this scenario. We see that when he puts himself towards things he can do, it actually starts improving his situation.

love hoe everyone gets character development even Mentor chars liek Reigen. Everyone has the room to grow

I love this episode for how it deepens Reigen as a character. It's always kinda been there under the surface but he really does have a lot of overly narcissistic qualities. Not enough to head canon him as having NPD since it doesn't negatively affect his life too much, but like, the whole "I know the best I'm always right even when I'm clearly not even when I'm proven wrong" that makes him such an effective scammer/personal counselor comes out in a real bad way here with Mob. He genuinely thinks he's doing his best by Mob because he can't conceive that he's just a part of his life, not the most important part.

Lotus Gramarye

God I forgot about just the level of cope Reigen goes through here. The extreme level of projection is something I'm so familiar with when it comes to breakups.

So the mangaka didn't actual write/draw Reigen to be attractive but Studio Bones just be simping for him
