Sokka is entirely in the right with his schedule. They have about 1 week to cross ALMOST THE ENTIRE COUNTRY, in order to arrive in time for the invasion. Any delay is devastating.

Can't wait for Alicia to get to the next episode, it's one of my fav's for real for real

Princess Paladin

i think the River Spirit couldn't help because the river was polluted, and she's the spirit OF the river. kind of like how the destruction of the forest twisted Heibai into a monster. the thing they are the spirit of being altered or affected impacts the spirit too. :o just my theory. EDIT: already mentioned by others, ignore me.

No spoiler info regarding Avatar movies, sequels, live action adaptations, and so on: definitely DO NOT watch the live action movie made by Shyamalan years ago, it's absolutely terrible and not worth wasting your time on. There's another animated series, Legend of Korra, which follows a different Avatar in a different era. It's a little up and down, in part because the creators were jerked around by Nickelodeon behind the scenes, but of the four seasons two are pretty good, one is fantastic, and the other one is... ehhh. Overall, worth a watch. There are comics which follow the end of this series, some of which are pretty good, some of which are okay, and some are just kind of... there. None of them that I've read are bad, but some were a little unnecessary and didn't have much to them. There's a new live action adaptation that's supposed to be coming to Netflix, made by the original creators IIRC. There's no release date for it yet, but it's pretty widely thought that it will come out some time later this year. Edit: also of note, there's an animated series on Netflix that was made by one of the lead writers of Avatar, called The Dragon Prince, which a little bit like if Avatar was taking place in a more Western, almost D&D style fantasy world. I haven't seen the newest season that's out yet, but the ones I have seen are pretty good. (Although the animation in the first season throws some people at first because the frame rate and such is a little choppy.) Also, there are plenty of babies there for you to gush over. Hope you're feeling okay. Best wishes.

Just adding on, I refuse to watch the movie, and I also refuse to watch any reactions to it. It doesn't exist.

Katara, is that you? No Aang it isn't me

Lemon Rat

Thank you for the episode!

Fun fact. Sokka's schedule is actually the real Avatar Team schedule for the show that they put on his long ass parchment. Neat little easter egg

It's a great lesson on fate help those who help themselves. The painted lady was only able to manifest once the villagers actually started doing something about their situation, rather than sitting around expecting the painted lady to solve all of their problems

I have vivid memories of this episode because of like an avatar wii game I used to play as a kid and I played this level so much and it was one of my favorite episodes because of the game

The Force

What's always been wild to me is the fact they're struggling to get food, but somehow Katara is getting enough berries to not only feed Appa but make his tongue purple xD Surely they're fine and don't need the gross fish

Belle M

I mean if it was food for a few days I think they'd need more than berries no?

Baron Salt

I agree with Sokka, but also you can't get so focused on the bigger picture that you ignore the problems in front of you. The village was suffering and many of them would have died if Kitara had done nothing about it.

Winter Turnip

fucken love this episode. really appreciate you bringing a clearer perspective on sokka's motives
