i wouldn't call Gon's attitude "understanding" i think it's more so that.... he's so naive to things outside of his life in whale island that he'll simply accept whatever comes his way as long that he thinks it's cool or if it has to do with someone he considers his friend.... like Killua. No person with a well-developed sense of morality will hear someone else say "im from a family of assassins, im an assassin too" and think "oh yeah.... im ok hanging out with this person".
