Russians and a lot f eastern Europeans DO indeed have a rougher accent. Most Slavic speaking countries like mine do have it. We don't really understand the softening of some of the letters western countries do. Unless you get used to it. We have exact letters that are all pronounced. Makes the accent feel and sound waaay thicker to western language speakers speakers! Very good villan accent most of the times.
