Back when this was in theaters, it wasn't QUITE received with the new sentimentality of horsie-fangirls raised on DVD and Netflix: Jeffrey Katzenberg at Dreamworks had been trying to play his "melodramatic Lion King" card at his own studio, and after Shrek had opened the year before, Spirit was a mass of cliche' that helped bury the traditional 90's-animated film. (Back in '02-'03, when analysts were trying to figure out why Shrek and Finding Nemo were hits, and 00's Disney movies and Paramount cable-cartoon movies weren't.) I remember anime fans trying to get the word out that Studio Ghibli's “Spirited Away” was up for a Best Animated Oscar in '02, and hearing people respond “What, that horse movie? That stank!”

YEAA FINALLY! I've been waiting for this movie ever since i requested it! - Normally i listen to the soundtrack and songs a few times per week. And i havnt listen to it in 1,5 month. I know all the songs and i could easily win karaoke with them xD, but i wanted it to feel kind of fresh, watching it again. - I've waited to eat ice cream. I thought: "Im going to eat ice cream when he drops this movie". I havnt eaten ice cream this whole month XD! Atleast you let me stay healthy hahaha. - You got the Free / Spirit really fast. Im glad you did :D ! - I think it was a combination of SCI and mostly handdrawn. That gives it this beautiful effect. - For once, this is going to be a short comment, i know, shocking XD. But i love this movie sooooo much. I couldnt really pause it. Im so glad that you loved this movie and also really understood it. - Its not based on a true story, but it is based on a real mustang. They created this movie to let people show that horses are wild animals. To help wild horses, maintain and protect their natural habitat. They are treated cruelly by some people. Ofcourse not everyone is like that, but you get me. Especially back then. They have a heart, a soul, a life and a spirit (pun not intendend but im going to pretend i did). They also showed how cruel the westerners were towards the native americans. As you said, there is so much in this movie. # This is one of my all time favorite movies. I rewatched this movie so many times as a child. And as i got older, i started to understand this movie more. I never not cried watching this movie. # This movie has the best soundtrack/ songs of any movie i've ever seen. I still listen to it till this day. It was really hard to not listen to it. but now you've seen it, it will be put on replay ! haha.

I have heard about the story after watching it, that during release it was snubbed by alot of people until it hit the shelves to purchase and also streaming services pushed the movie. I wonder why though, as the movie was unique and special, with the best soundtracks I have ever heard in a movie. It was like I was saying, it felt like a beautiful oil painting, that had come to life.
