I was saddened by your ordeal with this reaction. You were so distracted that you weren't able to appreciate Disney's funniest villain and all the pop culture references. In a very, very simplified way: English has influences from every major Western culture that preceded it. Hebrew, Greek, Latin, the Germanic and Celtic tongues, Arabic. American English adds influences from North American indigenous cultures, as well. Thanks, Dillon, for your perseverance under pressure. Love made you go the distance for us.

At the time this came out in theaters, we’d just gotten through 90’s Disney’s melodramatically corny Pocahontas and Hunchback, and the switch to a wackier comedy was even more disorienting. It took a LOT to get to like the characters (which we eventually did on video), so sorry your computer troubles had to be a distraction. It certainly wasn’t the “Disney does mythology” movie most of the parents were expecting 😄 - I remember some asking “Are there any GOOD Greek-mythology movies for kids?”, and we’d get to recommend the cool 1963 live-action “Jason & the Argonauts”, and, of course, the original 1981 “Clash of the Titans”.
