Really? This is a classic movie that both men and women enjoy as far as I know. At least the men in my life like it. We used to watch it quite a bit in my family. I'm not sure how anyone could say this is aimed only at women. I could see rom-coms, but this is a good drama.

The woman who plays Evelyn in this, the middle aged woman is Kathy bates who played molly brown in titanic which you also reacted too. This film is based on a book where Ruth and Idgie were lovers but they left it out of the film.

I'm so glad you watched this! Yes Idgie and Ruth were together but it was very downplayed from the book, I'm actually surprised you picked up on it so quickly. As to Ninny being Idgie, she is the same person in the movie but in the book it is made very clear she is not the same person.
