Truly a lot of food for thought. The "justice system world-wide" ? There are thousands of systems, and they're all created by fallible human beings. Balance justice with mercy, fact with lies and deceit, personal interest with common good (whatever that is). No, mate, it's just not that simple.

"Who fault is that?!" Um the guy who's doing the killing... only two people were involved in the murder of Clyde's family. Only two. I get we see Clyde's perspective but that wasn't justice. Nick wasn't the "bad guy" here. Which is why I love this movie because it's painted as such, but Nick and the others were doing their job and at the very end, justice was finally served.

Oh God I love this movie. My main critique is that they should have at least alluded to Clyde's "Talents" earlier in the movie, instead of kind of coming out of nowhere half way through. The set up for that could have been better. The fall of Clyde is extremely tragic. Of course his actions (at least at first) are reasonable to the audience. Who would not want revenge on someone who took away his family in such a brutal and disgusting fashion. However, as you noted, he crossed a line when he began punishing those who were not in any way directly involved in the incident. Yes, they in some way prevented him from getting the justice he deserved, but none of them deserved to die for their part in it all. Clyde truly becomes unredeemable due to just how far he takes it and leaves Nick with no alternative but to take him out. The end of this film is damn near perfection. Nick has his eyes opened by Clyde in multiple ways. Not only does the threat of his life being taken force him to appreciate his family more and make them a priority (going to his daughters recital) but he also forces Nick to see the devastation he causes through the dealings he makes with murderers. He finally sees it from the perspective of those he betrays and the unimaginable torture they feel that would drive them to do even the most evil of things. The whole ordeal changes him from the inside out and he comes out the other end an all around better man in every aspect of his life. Clyde, at least in a small way, accomplished what he set out to do.

Watched this movie back when television sets were a thing. I loved the movie, but I didn’t bother looking at the name. I put off this movie while scrolling through your channel, because the title sounded like mundane plot… I was wrong. Thank you for reintroducing me to this movie.
