I see you couldn't resist, but...NEVER watch Space Jam without first getting exposure to the original Looney Tunes classics. The new kids want Bugs Bunny to be a snide, obnoxious a-hole, but vintage animators like Chuck Jones and Robert McKimson knew him better: https://vimeo.com/286432501 Most of the Essential Classics are stuck together in 1979’s “The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie”.

It's so good to see you having fun on your own turf, in your own element. I can see that it had special significance to you because of your past. And the life-lessons you highlighted are golden. It reminds me that so many people who end up as parents are ill-equipped to do that well. So many are caught in the poor parent cycle, just repeating the mistakes of their own parents. As an educator, you must realize the importance of grounding young people in skills that will carry them through their lives. We all need to continually grow in knowledge and understanding, to be better communicators, and to think critically. Kudos to Dillon for constantly pushing that message.

I also really loved the comprehensive references to the Warner Brothers film legacy. So many were probably missed because you're not familiar with the older movies (yet). That was nostalgic for me.

I quite enjoyed this movie. Took my nephew to see it. I am one of those kids who was above average as a kid but fell behind. For various reasons. I do agree with how you feel on this one. Kids do need to realise that to be truly great takes work and talent is awesome but you need to nurture that talent. However… Kids still need to be kids. Its hard to find the balance of it all. Children absolutely need a childhood and should have fun. They also need to gradually learn discipline and self motivation. I don’t think anyone completely gets it right. For example, as someone working in education support I know that achievable challenges are good for a child. The thing is that if you push too hard or overwhelm them they lose motivation. The trick is keeping it challenging but fun. To push but not too hard. The hardest part for teachers is no two children are alike so what works well for one won’t for the other. Take the brothers in this movie. Worked fine for the eldest bro but not for the younger. Also the pressure the coach put on a young kid is unfair. No child should shoulder the adult task of supporting the family financially or otherwise. They’re children. The coach saying how he could use basketball to help the family is putting added pressure even if he meant well. It’s really bad for a child’s mental health. He should play because he loves the game and wants to be good at it. It shouldn’t be to help his mumma out, even if it’s noble to do it for that reason.

In real life, it is Bronny who loves to play video games and is in a gaming team, in which he and his team were on the cover of sports illustrated. Bronny loves to play basketball too, but also is gamer. LeBron allows him to do both and was very vocal about letting his kids have fun in whatever activities they want..whether it’s sports, performing arts, gaming, and etc. It’s the same thing with Bryce! Bryce also plays basketball well, but he also loves to make content on TikTok and seems to enjoy dancing/doing skits as well. Little Zhuri has been active on her little YouTube channel and she also has many hobbies and is a very active child. So it’s safe to say in real life, LeBron and Savannah parenting skills is good! They’ve been supportive with whatever path their kids wants to take. 👍
