Okay, I have no idea what the Gen-Z reactor-fan obsession is with this movie, but the reason the movie was originally MADE was that Sam Goldwyn was doing remakes of their classics, and wanted Jim Carrey to play the millquetoast daydreamer from the 50’s Danny Kaye film. And whenever Jim turns down a project, studios immediately turn to replacement Ben Stiller…But whenever Stiller directs himself, he wants to play an idiot AND try and turn it into some pretentious social examination of society and culture, pretty much destroying the original comic concept of the movie. The point?: Look up the 50's Danny Kaye movie. It’s not Kaye’s best (that would be “The Court Jester”), and don't have to react to it, but it’s a lot less complicated than Stiller’s off-topic self-indulgence.

You saw Mr. Stiller in "Empire of the Sun" earlier this month. I'm glad you found this a springboard into thoughts from your past. That's what makes you special as a reactor.
