Rogue Wave Pirates: Stratosphere (Patreon)

Next up for the Power Couple of the Rogue Wave Pirates is the high-flying Stratosphere!!

ORIGIN

Carrie Freeman grew up as a farm girl in Kansas. From a very young age she learned to fly so that she could operate the farm's crop duster, and flying soon became her favorite activity. She was also very academically gifted, and so she was able to win herself a scholarship to Kansas Tech University. She didn't go alone, however. A longtime friend of hers named Lawson Bride who had gone to the same high school she had was able to land himself a football scholarship and came with her. Carrie saw Lawson as a brother, but unbeknownst to her he was harboring strong feelings for her. One day Lawson invited Carrie to join the football team for a party and Carrie met the quarterback, Deonte. He was tall, handsome, athletic, and charming, and Carrie felt immediately attracted to him. They began dating, which enraged Lawson although he never let either of them know it.

After college the couple got married. One day Carrie and Deonte decided to meet up with Lawson, who they still believed to be their friend, not knowing that he had been stewing in rage for years. Carrie took them up in the crop duster for fun, but to her shock Lawson lunged for the controls and attempted to crash the plane. They all would have died right then and there, but they were saved at the last minute when they were abducted by aliens right out of their crashing aircraft. The aliens were a conquering race known as the Proditians. They were planning a stealth conquest of earth by creating human mindslave soldiers, replacing their flesh and blood organs with malleable "living metal" that made them immensely powerful. Carrie, Deonte, and Lawson were some of their earliest experiments. However, interstellar law enforcement learned of what the Proditians were doing and shot down their ship before the process was completed. Carrie and Deonte pulled themselves from the wreckage of the ship with their bodies full of living metal but their minds intact. The whereabouts of Lawson could not be determined.

As a final unlikely coincidence, the ship crashed near the Devil Daughter, Merauder's pirate ship, right in the middle of a battle between her crew and some smugglers. After the battle had ended, Merauder offered them a place on her pirate crew. Unsure of how to return to normal society after what had happened to them, they agreed. They took the names Stingrazor and Stratosphere. The unlikely events that brought Carrie and Deonte to the crew were only a few of a series of very unlikely events that happened during the crew's formation. This has led Merauder to speculate that perhaps something unseen is guiding the hand of fate.

POWERS/ABILITIES

• Flight at supersonic speeds
• Super strength
• No need to eat, sleep, or breathe
• Living metal can be used to make blades and can even be shot as bullets. After she fires her bullets they will return back to her body.
• HUD visor gives various benefits, such as the ability to lock on to targets, identify threats, and even translate the Proditian language
