Toonman Villain: The Meuz (Patreon)

Here it is guys, the full design and origin of Toonman's newest villain as well as another member to NRG's original Pantheon- The Meuz!!

ORIGIN

The first question anyone asked when Toonman first appeared in the human world was- how was it possible cartoons were alive? The answer came not much later when Toonman found himself approached by one of Mother Nature’s fellow deities calling themselves “Meuz”. Like their namesake, they were a deity of arts and entertainment, having blessed mankind with art, music, literature and theater within many identities of mythology such as Dionysus, Apollo, Saraswati and Xōchipilli. But unlike the others of the Pantheon, Meuz had only grown to love humans more as time marched on, enthralled with how humans had developed art and culture in many forms and mediums. Her favorite, however, had been the invention of cartoon animation because the humans had been able to bring an artform they developed to life, so to speak. Deciding to take it a step further, Meuz explained she had used her mastery over arts to bring the animated characters to life in their own world, which eventually became known as Toontopia.

So Toonman had come to learn the truth of his people’s creation, but soon discovered that his true maker wasn’t completely benevolent. Meuz, by standards, was considered the youngest of all her Pantheon siblings. And true to her many incarnations throughout mythology she was a hedonist who only lived for fun and frivolity of the most creative endeavors. Right and wrong and responsibility meant nothing to her, preferring to pass her immortal time looking for new ways of being entertained. And now with one of her ‘children’ alive in the realm of mortals, she now had means of entertaining herself and thrusted herself into Toonman’s role of heroics.

Whether he wanted her to or not…

Powers/Abilities:

• Art Manipulation: able to control and manipulate art in all its forms for various purposes, such as works of art, music, literature, food, fashion, theater, animation, etc.
• Able to transform and bring works of art to life as living beings.
• Travels through “Art Dimension”, a limbo realm within Earth hidden inside all pictures, photographs and videos.
• Creator Deity- only able to create or reshape, cannot destroy.

So, the story with Meuz actually started with the decision to do an original Pantheon for NRG. We wanted to fill in the roles of the main pantheon who had taken different roles in different mythologies throughout history. So we began looking at all the different mythologies of the world, and found commonalities. One was that each pantheon had their own god(s)/goddess(es) that were tied to arts such as music, literature, storytelling, etc. And since Toonman is essentially a living being of art, this gave us the idea to have our art deity be the reason cartoons were alive in our universe.

To clarify, Meuz is both an ally and enemy to Toonman, since she's on the side of humans. Her power and motives are more centered around a desire to be entertained and expressive, so she's something of his Mister Mxyzpltk.
