Urban Legends: Toxicrawler (Patreon)

Hey Guys! Got an awesome new Urban Legend to preview with you guys! This here is Toxicrawler, a trauma counselor who uses his poisonous abilities to break the endless cycle of abuse and injustice in the world!

ORIGIN

A trauma counselor for 10 years, Devin Wallace had grown accustomed to the difficulties that came with trying to help his patients who had dealt with toxic or abusive familiars, having high-minded notions about helping to repair their lives. But for Devin the hardest part of his job was the reality that at times he was repairing fragile vases only to have them shattered again the moment they returned to their abusers. And overtime Devin began to lose faith in a system that did nothing to break the cycle of abuse and injustice his patients had to deal with. The final straw for Devin was after one of his most suffering patients chose to end their life when her high profile husband had managed to bribe his way out of court, choosing instead to die rather than live in fear any longer. Devin vowed to find a way to break the cycle and give those he helped the justice they never received.

But Devin was no means a man of power or resource to become the protector his patients needed, and having heard rumors of those receiving powers from beings called eidolons Devin sought one out and convinced him to grant him powers. The Eidolon he discovered acted on Devin’s hatred for toxic behavior, and granted him a new amphibious form with the ability to generate and control poisons, specifically the ability to concentrate his poisons into a “toxic touch” the left his victims’s nerves painfully immobilize, and in extreme cases causing them to become hapless victims themselves in their own bodies. Taking the name “Toxicrawler”, Devin became the latest Urban Legend to deliver his own brand of justice against the most toxic of criminals.

Powers/Abilities

• Amphibious form offer enhanced strength, speed, durability, agility and leaping.
• Poison Generation: Toxicrawler is able to generate and control a unique posion he can weaponize against enemies
  • Toxic Touch - able to concentrate his poisons into his blows and painfully immobilize his enemies.
  • Wall-Crawling - Poison can act as an adhesive to allow Toxicrawler to scale abnormal surfaces.
• Prehensile Tongue also generates poison and is used as a weapon, extra limb, and in transportation.

Much like some of our other ideas, Toxicrawler was born out of a random idea of observation in superhero comics- that a more characters with poison-based abilities were villains instead of heroes. Seemed like another a golden opportunity to do something different and unique like with Bloody Mary or Snakeman. But the real inspiration for Toxicrawler came from Pokemon of all places. Specifically, poison type Pokemon, which are NRG Creator Alex Dawe's favorite type.
