Hey Guys! Got a new Urban Legends superhero for you, and you are getting an exclusive first look! Meet Bloody Mary: The Scream Queen!

ORIGIN

Amongst the many Urban Legends operating in the world, none was more strange or more feared than Bloody Mary. A vigilante who had taken her name from the famous ghost story, Bloody Mary was something of a heroic boogeyman who enjoyed striking bone-chilling terror  into those who thrived and got ahead by striking fear into others themselves. With a horrifying skeletal appearance, eyewitnesses claimed Bloody Mary had the ability to bring the fears of others to life, travel through and weaponize mirrors and reflective surfaces, and some even went as far as to say she would appear to the rescue of those in danger who spoke her name three times. But many amongst the Urban Legends were surprised to find that Bloody Mary was not as off-putting as she seemed, but in fact a caring individual that while she thrived on fear of others, she also wanted others to embrace their fears because it was such an important part of what made life interesting and fun.

This had stemmed from both her upbringing and her reasons for becoming a vigilante. Bloody Mary’s true name was Mary Campell, and she had been raised by her Aunt Lori, who had been a long-standing horror movie icon. As such, Mary had developed a great love not only for being scared, but for scaring others. But during her final year in college Mary had the unfortunate fate of being a victim to a vicious serial killer along with 3 other girls. In a final bid to escape Mary had fought back but her capture had fatally injured her, and in what was to be her final moments Mary had looked into a mirror and in a delusional state Mary had recited her favorite ghost story icon’s name. Though the exact details are still unknown to her, this was how Mary got her abilities, which allowed her to recover, banish her tormentor, and escape. And while recovering in the aftermath, Mary had found that she now had the ability to sense fear within others, something that tormented her constantly. Having experienced the darker side of the double-edge sword of fear for the first time and now seeing what impact it had on others, Mary became an Urban Legend so that others wouldn’t live in fear anymore and that she might reclaim something of her fear-loving self she had lost before.

Though Bloody Mary’s true motives are well-meaning and noble, she admits that striking fear into others who deserve it is an added bonus to her. Mary says she’s reclaiming her former self, but some worry that her enjoyment could turn into an addiction if she is not careful, turning her into the kind of people she’s trying to take down.

Powers/Abilities

  • Enhanced strength, speed, agility, and stealth.
  • Illusion Casting - able to create fear-based illusions of her victim’s worst fears and deepest insecurities.
    • Her powers do not work on emotionless beings, and if the person she is trying to scare has a greater will than hers, they will be able to break through her illusions and have a greater edge over her.
  • Reflection-Based Teleportation- Bloody Mary is able to travel through mirrors and other reflectives surfaces through a sort of “mirror realm”.
    • She is also able to heal herself by escaping into the mirror realm.
  • Mirror-based Weaponry - able to create and control shards of mirror glass for weapons, namely daggers.
  • Fear Sensing - Bloody Mary is able to sense the fear in others. Additionally, she has the ability to locate someone in need who whispers her name “Bloody Mary” three times.
  • Fear and Will Empowerment - Bloody Mary gains more power through the fear she induces in others. Additionally, if those she protects are able to overcome their fears and find their courage, this will strengthen Bloody Mary too.

Might be late to ask this, but are the Urban Legends a superhero team featuring horror themed heros?

Actually, they're an "unofficial" team of street-level vigilantes that operate across the east coast. It's just a happy coincidence that a lot of them have been horror-based.
