08/04/2023: After giving it much thought, we decided it made more sense for Blotch to be a clone created by Night Sovereign, not Ryker. This stems from a decision we have made to make Ryker less of a Toonman-focused villain and more of a grander universe villain, but also because we realized in the context of cloning cartoon characters it made waaaaaaaaaaaaay more sense for such things to be done by a cartoon character themselves, such as Night Sovereign. Update Below.

Got another awesome Toonman villain we are previewing with you guys! Really excited about this one! This here is Blotch, a "clone" of Toonman who seeks retribution against his fellow cartoons for years of "unfairness".

ORIGIN

A product of what could be described as only possible through the science and magic from cartoon animation, the being that would call eventually call himself Blotch was a ‘clone’ of Toonman created by Night Sovereign in an attempt to ruin the favor of his heroic enemy with the humans by creating a version of Toonman that shared in Night Sovereign’s hatred for humanity. Created from the same unique elemental material as his nightlings and empowered with a small sample of Toonman’s essence, Night Sovereign unleashed his clone on the humans and nearly succeeded in ruining Toonman’s good name. However, the Toonman clone was unstable and eventually deteriorated. Worse, the clone couldn’t handle the knowledge that it wasn’t the real Toonman despite having corrupted versions of his memories, and eventually broke free of Night Sovereign’s influence to make his own name in life.

At first, Blotch’s villainous and murderous actions against humans seemed to be done out of anger and spite towards Toonman, resentful that it was not the kinder and more favorable original version but instead a failed “reboot”, and had chosen to ruin Toonman’s life by becoming a antagonizing stain on his life. But Night Sovereign could sense there was something more to Blotch’s actions, and what’s more he could see Blotch left Toonman with feelings of self-remorse and guilt. And when more cartoons came into the human world and Blotch shifted focus on attacking them did the truth come out-

Toonman, for all his happiness and dedication to his purpose as a cartoon character, had secretly been harboring and repressing 100 years of feelings of bitterness and resentment, both to humans for being abandoned by them all those years ago and towards his fellow cartoons from watching all of them fulfill their purpose as cartoons. And Blotch was a living embodiment of that resentment, finally free to unleash Toonman’s feelings of unfairness on his own people and the humans he brought joy to. Blotch was a truly a stain on Toonman’s life, and now it feel on Toonman to literally battle his demons in order to better himself, a ongoing battle that would forever ruin some of the opinions cartoons and humans initially had on him.

Powers/Abilities

  • Blotch has all the same Powers as Toonman, and without his sense of morals or cartoonish humor he is more deadly and dangerous with them.

You might have noticed that some of these villains are planned to be introduced much later in the series, and not that the earliest moments. But rest assured that we really like many of these villains for Toonman, and are working on ways to introduce them much earlier into the series. What you seen now is what we currently have planned, but it's bound to change before they make their printed debut.

Anyway, hope you guys like this new villain! Let us know in the comments below.
