Kayn: Son of Dracula (Patreon)

Hey Guys! We'd thought we'd give you a first look at Kayn's character profile before we post it live in a few weeks. As with all of our character profiles, we also post the origins and powers, so you guys are getting an exclusive first viewing of Kayn's full origin!

All across Europe in the shadows of the night, citizens spoke of a monstrous defender claiming to be an emerging superhero who protected them from the horrors of the occult and supernatural. Making his home in modern Transylvania, he was a defender who would venture out wherever the evil of unnatural dared to infect others with their curse. Despite his unearthly powers and frightening deminor, he claimed not to be a beast unleashed from hell, but a healer carrying on the work of an old friend who had saved his life and his soul. He would save others from wicked curses such as vampirism and lycanthropy, but those truly wicked, the ones he claimed were true monsters because they embraced and relished in their curse like a devious gift, would feel his wrath. To the locals of Transylvania, they came to know him as “Kayn”, and he claimed to be “son of Dracula”.

In truth, Kayn was the result of genetic experimentation by Vlad Dracul centuries ago to create a new breed of vampire warrior with immunity to a vampire’s greatest weakness- the sun. Kayn the first success of soon to be many, trained by his “father” to lead his army of the supernatural against mankind. But Kayn’s birth had come at the demise of his mother’s life at the hands of Dracul soon following, and upon learning this he renounced his father, ashamed of his heritage. At his lowest and suicidal, fate gave Kayn a new life when he encountered one Dracul’s greatest enemies- Doctor Abraham Van Helsing, a medical practitioner who believed in saving lifes rather than swiftly ending them. Van Helsing took the son of Dracula under his wing, opening his eyes and teaching him that many of the “monsters” of supernatural lore were in actuality victims, diseased-ridden by the curses inflicted on them that compelled them to do what they did, much like junkies. And with Aid of Van Helsing and his fellowship, Kayn was able to defeat his father’s armies and seal him away for good.

But that was many years ago, and at a great cost of the lives of Doctor Van Helsing and Kayn’s own imprisonment with his father. In modern times, however, an aspiring gothic-horror writer named Abigail Jones, who while researching for her latest book, had accidentally released Kayn and his father’s forces from their imprisonment. With Vlad Dracul and his forces now unleashed on a modern world, Kayn was convinced by his new ‘friend’ Abby to carry on his and Van Helsing’s work in protecting and healing the innocent from the forces of the unexplainable. Though reluctant to take on the identity of a “superhero”, Kayn still does so in order to distance himself from his father’s shadow and show the world what truly makes a monster and what makes a man.

Powers/Abilities

• Evolutionary Vampire Physiology grants Kayn numerous superpowers such as:
  • Superhuman strength, speed, endurance, agility, and stamina
  • Semi-Immortality and Invulnerability - rumored to be fully immortal except for things that can harm a vampire, such as garlic or holy water.
  • Superhuman Senses - Able to see, smell, hear, taste and feel things no mortal man can
  • Healing factor - able to heal from most mortal injuries in seconds and is immune to most contaminants and mortal diseases.
  • Levitation - able to levitate and fly over vast distances
  • Hypnosis - able to hypnotize any living thing through eye contact
  • Natural Weaponry - Razor sharp Claws and fangs, as well as a semi-prehensile tongue.
  • Wall Crawling - able to walk/crawl on virtual any surface, even upside down and over glass
  • Limited Shadow/Aero Kinesis and mimicry - Able to mold/manipulate shadows or turn into a deep, heavy fog/mist
  • Limited Shapeshifting - Able to transform into a small vampire bat or a swarm of bats
  • Fear-Inducement - able to strike fear into any mortal or monster
  • Day Walking - immune to the effects of the sun, but is weaker in daylight and stronger at night
  • Conversion/Vampirization - Like all vampires, Kayn has the ability to convert mortals into vampires
• Trained Healer and Occult/Supernatural Expert.
