Hello Frungy Fans! Dan here again. While the sport of kings is still a contender for all of our attention, another fun thing we're working on is Melee. Did you know you can get Simple and play around with our Melee prototype right now? You can! In fact, some of you did and remarked - rightfully so - that it was difficult to add in new ships. That didn't stop folks who made and even submitted ships to us. I've even reviewed a couple on stream, helping problem-solve and suggesting improvements. It's really fun to see the community playing around with our tools and game the same way we do!

This video is a technical walkthrough (no pretty art - sorry!), which demonstrates some new features Fred, Ken, and I have been working on. These will make it much easier for users to add Ships - and even modify Melee in other ways - without disturbing the core content of the game. This means we'll soon be able to share updates to our Melee content which remain separate from data users are making. This is not just for our prototypes and the Simple tool/viewer, but also demonstrates our thinking for the finished UQM2 where we want people to be able to generate their own content and mods.

Modding Melee to Add a New Ship

Technical demonstration of new features to support easier content creation and modding. The Melee simulation can now include an arbitrary list of scripts, which we use to add in a whole new, end-user-generated Alien and Ship which appear in the ship select menu.
