Alt Shift X 2023 (Patreon)

2022 brought us the first ever Game of Thrones spin-off show, House of the Dragon. So we made 11 videos and 10 livestreams about HOT D – that’s 34 hours of dragon talk total. Moly moly. We might make some more HOT D videos next year – maybe a “Ten Biggest Changes From the Books” type vid, a Targaryen history video about Jaehaerys etc, a theory video about Aegon’s dream, a spoilery summary of the entire Dance… But HOT D Season 2 won’t come out until 2024. So HOT D won’t be the main focus in 2023.

In 2023, we’ll make more ASOIAF videos. The next big vid will be “The real Jon Snow” – exploring Jon’s story in the books, and speculating on his future – similar to the “real Tyrion” video. There’ve been reports of a Jon Snow TV show in development, so now’s a good time to make our Jon vid. After that, we’ll hold more Patron votes to choose more ASOIAF topics to cover.

In 2022, we made our first Dune videos. Dune is a deep and bewildering universe, and it took a lot of work to study it properly. But I think it paid off – “The real Dune” is one of our best videos ever, and we’re now well-prepared to make more Dune videos. The next Dune movie will come out in November 2023. So we’ll make a “The real Dune Part Two” video. I also want to make “The Philosophy of Dune”, about the overall themes and ideas of the book series.

So I think in the first half of 2023, we’ll mostly do ASOIAF and HOT D videos. Then in the second half of 2023 we’ll mostly do Dune videos. That’s the rough plan. We might also cover any other cool new shows that come out – like how we covered Raised by Wolves and Watchmen. (If you have TV show suggestions, comment below! I heard 1899 is good). I’d also like to make more non-fiction videos, similar to the “Apocalypse” vid.

For now, we’re still on break for a while. The Patreon is paused, so you won’t be charged. Unfortunately, I made a mistake and you were charged in December. (The Patreon unpaused itself – it’s a dumb system.) So to make up for the extra charge, I’ll leave the Patreon paused for an extra month after I return. I’ll also refund anyone who’d like a refund, on request. (Patreon won’t let me bulk refund everyone – it’s a dumb system). Sorry about that!

But even while ASX is on break, there’s more stuff coming out. The “audio feed” podcast now has more of the Alt Shift X back catalogue available, so you can listen to ASX videos in a podcast app or on Spotify if you’d like. There’s a new story by C. M. Kosemen (author of All Tomorrows) on Alt Shift ZZZ. Alt Schwift X has done some HOT D livestreams with Glidus, and more GOT Abridged. And who knows, there may soon be more uploads on other weird channels.
