Here’s the big Summerhall video! This’ll be Patron-only for a day or two. Which thumbnail design do you like of the two below?

This video is heavy on speculation, prophecy, and lore – it’s probably too dense for some casual watchers, but I reckon ASOIAF nerds will really enjoy this one :)

With Summerhall done, we’re now moving on to that big Asshai collaboration, and also a lil experimental video about a sci-fi story called All Tomorrows. All Tomorrows will be quick to finish, but Asshai can’t be released until the art is all complete. So in a week or two we’ll hold a Patron vote to choose either Jon Daenerys or Tyrion for a big recap/analysis video – so that if and when The Winds of Winter comes, we’ll be ready…

Great video! Lots of angles, lots of theories. It´s been a while since i read all the books, and not being a native speaker, sometimes i miss out on things (but i only want to read the books in english, the german translations sometimes are horrible). And i may have forgotten many details. But i have two questions: 1. As we saw on Viserys, not every Targaryen ist fireproof. But is Daenerys really the only one? Why would so many of them burn to death? 2. At the time of the tragedy, there were no more dragons; and that means magic was weak or non-existent, and also the production of wildfire was significantly harder. Doesn't Hallyne even say that the effect and power of wildfire was also weaker? It sums up to this feeling: Could the weaker wildfire at that time really kill so many Targaryens? It just doesn't sit right with me. But as i said, this could result from language barriers and memory loss ;-)

Thank you! 1. In the TV show, Daenerys seems to be immune to fire all the time -- she's unburned by fire several times. But in the books, it's different. GRRM has said that Targaryens aren't immune to fire, and when Daenerys survives the fire that hatches her eggs, that's a unique "one-time magical event". Yeah in ACOK, Hallyne says that after the dragons died out, it was harder to make wildfire, because there was less magic in the world. He doesn't say wildfire is any less powerful, though. But even if wildfire was less powerful, normal fire is enough to kill lots of people! There have been plenty of terrible fires in the real world, without the help of any magic green substance... So it seems plausible to me that many people died in the Summerhall fire.

Thank you for your reply! :-) It clears up things a lot for me. But i have one "follow-up" question concerning the first point. Isn´t there a "two-time magical event" with Daenerys? I am referring to the incident where she puts one egg into fire/coal and takes it out without burning her hands. Or ist this just in the tv-show? And just for clarification: I absolutely know about the devastating effects of "simple" fires in the real world, and have no intention of denying them! My issue is/was, that the "dragon people", who have a deep and intimate relationship with dragons, ride on them while they produce heat and fire, very well might have profound knowledge about fire, and it wouldn´t be surprising if a form of (small) resistance to heat and fire would occur at least occasionally. In my head, this assembled to "Daenerys has a rare combination of genes, so that she posesses a unique resistance/immunity". Please continue your amazing work, i really love your videos. I can´t wait for the next Westworld Season, and i also love your Expanse-content.

Simple truths make me smile in the era of "your truth", and etc.: "normal fire is enough to kill lots of people! " Yes, indeed. I often burn fingers attempting to cook. Obviously I am not a secret Targaryen, at least not an HBO secret Targaryen. I might yet discover I am a secret -- book only -- Targaryen. Searching for foreshadowing everyday.
