I think Genre is the weakest episode of Season 3, which is a problem – because this episode carries a lot of big central ideas about Serac and data and control. Will the rest of the season have impact if these concepts aren’t explored properly? So this video includes a touch of speculative analysis on what this episode was trying to say – hopefully it doesn’t come across as reaching. But hey, it was fun speculating on Dolores’ plan for Bernard, and Caleb’s secret past… And there’s a cool bit at the end about Greek mythology. The last three episodes of Season 3 are called Decoherence, Passed Pawn, and Crisis Theory. Here’s hoping they stick the landing!

Am also thinking about which series to cover next. We’ll definitely hold an ASOIAF / Game of Thrones Patron vote after Westworld. For other series, I’m thinking Dune, His Dark Materials, The Expanse, maybe Witcher… But am also hearing good things about Devs, and I’m curious about The Stand miniseries… Next year, there’s Lord of the Rings, Wheel of Time, Foundation, The Hitch-Hikers’ Guide, and Sandman, all of which could be amazing if they’re done right. After that – House of the Dragon looms, and mayhaps The Winds of Winter…
