Worlds of the Expanse, Leviathan Wakes, and Essos (Patreon)

Our first Expanse video, "Worlds of the Expanse", is great. It introduces the cultures and factions of the Expanse, and explains how they’re shaped by real physics and technology. It’s spoiler-free, and should have something for both Expanse noobs and diehard fans to enjoy. Daniel Abraham, co-author of The Expanse, was kind enough to speak with us and offer feedback on the video – we’ll release our conversation as a podcast for Patrons after the video’s done. We’ve experimented with some new graphics, and included some really gorgeous imagery. So this vid is something fresh and exciting for Alt Shift X – it’ll be out in a couple days (:

After that, we’ll release a more in-depth, spoilery analysis of The Expanse Book 1 and Season 1. This’ll explore the plot, themes and characters of Leviathan Wakes – using ideas from the chat with Dan. 

We’re also planning a long-requested Game of Thrones video about the exotic locations in the far east of Essos. We’re working with the Unseen Westeros exhibition, who are providing a heap of beautiful artwork to feature in the video. This'll be a great opportunity to talk about the coolest and strangest corners of the world of ice and fire – and to consider the orientalism of ASOIAF’s east.

Thanks for your patience on the Expanse stuff! Starting on a new series is a big undertaking. But it’s been great digging into a new story – looking forward to getting these vids out.
