ASX update: Westworld, a break, future votes (Patreon)

So Westworld was a mixed bag, but I think we made the most of it. The Explained videos brought some clarity and meaning to a bewildering season, and the Rant videos give a more… critical perspective if you dig that. Westworld was our first big step beyond Game of Thrones, and it was a bloody difficult show to handle, without a book series and established fandom to draw from. But ultimately we made some quality videos that helped people understand and enjoy a cool story – that’s the point of ASX. Now that we’ve done Westworld, Annihilation and Stranger Things, I reckon we can cover just about anything, in addition to GOT/ASOIAF (: 

We’re now taking a break – ASX will return in ~mid-August. The Patreon is paused so no one will be charged at the end of July. There’ll be no new ASX vids in this time, but possibly some side-projects... 

On the 6th of August, we’ll open two votes for Patrons. One vote to choose a GOT/ASOIAF topic – e.g. Doom of Valyria, Euron, Dorne analysis. And one vote to choose a non-GOT series – e.g. Dune, Watchmen, The Expanse. Whatever wins, we’ll do videos on those topics. We’re not committing to doing multiple videos on the winning non-GOT series – but we’ll make at least one, and see how it goes.

Between now and GOT S8, our goal is to cover a bunch of different series, as well as GOT. That way we can survive the end of Thrones, and whatever comes next (:
