This video is hard to write. All we've really got on Patchface is vague symbolism and speculation – so trying to build a solid analysis is like building a house out of soggy playing cards, and all the cards are jokers, and the tide is coming in, and you're pretty sure you glimpsed a tentacle. A confounding task at best, yknow?

But now we've finished a script that covers all Patchface's major themes in the books. The trick with editing, I think, is choosing which bits not to include – and so there are lots of little possibilities cut from the final script. We don't get into the possible interaction of Patchface with Bloodraven, or the sea god of Storm's End, or Patchface's possible descent from Aerion Targaryen, or comparisons with Hodor, or the precise etymology of the word "nennymoan", or some of Patchface's more ambiguous songs and rhymes. This leaves space to focus on the best-supported connections – the Drowned God, the dead at Hardhome, the Deep Ones, and greyscale. It's a dark, strange video to suit a dark, strange character, and I think you will really enjoy it. We'll record audio, and have the video out for Patrons in the next few days (:

Cheers!

... pretty sure you glimpsed a tentacle. I'm afraid all this nightmarish Lovecraftian stuff is going to send you off the deep end. Especially if we pick Euron next. Do remember to check in with the real world once in a while, yes?

As a Lovecraft fan, I really appreciate the Deep Ones analysis.
