The Patron vote is now closed – in third place is the Doom of Valyria, in second place Euron Greyjoy, and in first place is Patchface. Patchface is one of the most unsettling characters in ASOIAF. Once an intelligent boy from Volantis, he drowned in a shipwreck, and emerged… changed. As the court fool for House Baratheon, he accompanies Shireen, spouting strange and prophetic songs – “Under the sea the crows are white as snow, I know, I know”. “Under the sea, men marry fishes”. “In the dark the dead are dancing”. Even Melisandre is scared of Patchface – “That creature is dangerous. Many a time I have glimpsed him in my flames. Sometimes there are skulls about him, and his lips are red with blood”. Patchface may be connected to the Drowned God, the Deep Ones, the white walkers, R’hllor, even Bloodraven. So for this video, we’ll explore the meaning of Patchface’s utterances, and speculate on what kind of salty magick voodoo is behind them.

Also thinking about the next non-GOT video – maybe Altered Carbon, or the movie Annihilation... There may also be an Alt Shift Book Club podcast pilot episode in the near future – will keep you posted.

Thanks for your support!

For non GoT...how about Rick and Morty? I feel like there's some cool stuff there?

Yeah Rick and Morty gets requested a lot, and I'm tempted – but feel it's already well covered by other channels, e.g. Wisecrack: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLghL9V9QTN0h6LUzveyvWsglmSAi7EjPh
