Knight of the Laughing Tree update (Patreon)

Here are all of the characters and houses mentioned by Meera in her telling of the story of the Knight of the Laughing Tree – people who were at the Tourney at Harrenhal in 281 AC. It's a pretty impressive guest list. I think of the Tourney as like the greatest house party in Westeros – people came from all over to talk, drink, hang out, hook up, spread rumours, trade secrets... and twenty years later, people are still talking about what happened that night – Ned, Jaime and Barristan each have memories and flashbacks of the tourney.

The Knight of the Laughing Tree is one of the great mysteries of the tourney – a mystery knight appeared in the lists, and defeated a few knights to defend the honour of Howland Reed. There are lots of different theories on the identity of the mystery knight, ranging from Ned Stark to Lyanna Stark to Ashara Dayne, and there are even some wacky theories that a time-travelling Bran was involved.

All in all it's a fun story, connected with some interesting theories and side-plots. It also serves as a nice prelude to further examination of Rhaegar and Lyanna's relationship... So a Knight of the Laughing Tree video should serve well as a quick video before Cersei is complete (:
