After last week's utterly enormous Mega Man 2 retrospective, I wanted to dial things down to a more manageable length for this episode and decided to hold on to the backup title (California Games) for another time. But wouldn't you know it, this still ended up being a pretty long and involved video.

I guess I shouldn't complain that we're in the midst of a patch of interesting and generally good releases for NES, though. Do you want Airwolfs? Because that's how you get Airwolfs.

He balls nasty: Super Dodge Ball | NES Works 128

Weird sequels were kind of the NES's thing. Just look at how different Zelda II and Super Mario Bros. 2 were from the games that preceded (and followed!) them. But Super Dodge Ball may just take the prize. Whatever you might have expected from the true follow-up to Renegade... it wasn't this. Production notes: Video Works is funded via Patreon (http://www.patreon.com/gamespite) — support the show and get access to every episode up to two weeks in advance of its YouTube debut! Plus, exclusive podcasts, eBooks, and more! Why watch when you can read? You may have caught this already but at 4:31 I think you probably meant to say "after school activities" rather than "after-sports activities"! Love the vid!

I love this game so much. The Americanized Kunio Kun games like Super Dodge Ball, River City Ransom, and Nintendo World Cup were super over with my friends. I had a blast streaming through that collection when it came out a few years ago. Nekketsu Fighting Legend is amazing.
