Get it, because it's a new year, and we're all nerds.

ANYWAY, here is the first video of the year: Ayakashi no Shiro, a game I couldn't give a proper review. Alas! Hopefully the video is still an interesting watch?

Game Boy World #057: Ayakashi no Shiro [Seta, 1990]

Game Boy gets its first old-school dungeon crawler, one of the least common genres on the system. This one offers an atypical setting for the genre (ancient Japan!), which is aesthetically cool yet somewhat frustrating in practical terms: The game text, which has never been localized or fan-translated into English, displays entirely in cumbersome traditional hiragana script (even English loanwords like "damage").

Videos like this one are a big part of why I'm so happy you're doing this series! I would never have known about this game without you. I've found video game history to be one of my favorite topics and you're presenting it so well! The cover art IS rad, the in game art is pretty nice as well.

Thats one nice looking title screen they have! Great logo. I am also a big fan of the SeTa logo.
