August/September Preview (Patreon)

Good afternoon! As I work to refocus and generally improve this project, I realize it couldn't hurt to give everyone a sense of what's in the works right now and in the coming weeks. I've tentatively scheduled content through summer 2021... ironically, I did this shortly before North Carolina experienced its most powerful earthquake in more than a century, which kind of feels like the planet saying, "Don't bother." (Whatever, Earth, you're not my mom, except in a sort of metaphorical sense.) I've established a pretty steady and systemic publishing routine going forward, where Gaiden episodes (mostly about Lynx/7800/Master System/Game Gear) will be appearing every other week for a while; I'll be alternating between NES, Game Boy, and Metroidvania Works on the other weeks. After the new year, the Gaiden episodes will appear far less frequently and you'll be seeing much more of the NES. And I do have a few surprises in store in there as well...

Here's how things look for the coming month:

• Aug. 12: Lynx episode 2 (Atari arcade ports from 1990)
• Aug. 19: GB Works - Bubble Bobble & Chibi Maruko-chan
• Aug. 26: Game Gear episode 1 (Japanese launch titles)
• Sept. 2: Elite for NES (patron request)
• Sept. 9: Atari 7800 episode 1 (Launch titles, part 1)
• Sept. 16: NES Works - Karnov

I'm really excited about the Gaiden episodes, because they will add so much additional context and depth to the core coverage.
