I sat down last night to record a few levels of Super Mario Bros. 2, and before I knew it, it was somehow two hours later and I was at the final stage. But the good news is that with this video I'm finally satisfied with the quality of my NES video capture — it's perhaps just a shade too dim, which seems to be a property of my capture device (the games look perfect on both LED and CRT televisions), but the colors are strong, neutral, and look pretty accurate. The bad news? After all of that, I managed to get to Wart on my last life and completely flaked out about how to beat him. So if you've ever wanted to see a video of SMB2 where someone dies to the last boss (and in which world 1 is somehow cut off), here's your chance.

In all seriousness, though, I now have the ability to capture high-definition video from NES, Game Boy, Super NES, and N64. Once the proper cables show up in the mail, I can also add Sega Genesis (and, by proxy, Master System/Sega Genesis/32X) to that list. I've also managed to get ahold of GameCube component cables (!) thanks to a very kind person who just had them laying around unused, so once I add a system to my repertoire and the media loader I've ordered arrives, I'll be able to record GameCube, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance, too. So much possibility! Game Boy World is my first love, but I can feel my heart beginning to stray...
