I'm back from my travels, and back in [Game Boy Works] action.

Leading off my return engagement here we have a pretty huge episode — not necessarily in terms of length, but certainly in terms of legwork. This look at F-1 Race and the Four-Player Adapter brings together a lot of threads that I've been pursuing over the past few months (as you'll see from some of the video and photo inclusions here).

While the 4PA ended up not being that big a deal in the grand scheme of Nintendo's existence, it has a pretty interesting story behind it, and I tried to source as much in the way of info and personal experiences as I could for the sake of this piece. Enjoy!

F-1 Race and the Nintendo 4-Player Adapter: A mess o' multiplayer | Game Boy Works #110

Game Boy shipped with the ability to allow two systems to link together for multiplayer sessions. But in late 1990, Nintendo took their portable multiplayer options one step further through the Four-Player Adapter, which shipped in the U.S. as a pack-in with the game F-1 Race. This week, we look at both game and peripheral.

What happened with your attempt at a 16 player game? I don't think I ever heard the results. I still want to try the World's First Actual 16 Player Todd's Adventure In Slime World Lynx game.

Nice job; I really appreciate the work on the provenance of the 4-P adapter; that seems like exactly the sort of information that easily could have been lost to time not too long from now.
