Well, back to the proper sequence of subjects. I'll let the video speak for itself… mainly because I don't have anything to say. It's been a rough month and doesn't seem to be relenting yet. I'm kinda pooped.

I do intend to get back on the streaming kick this coming week, though, so please look forward to that. Daily Castlevania-themed mapping streams as a Halloween tie-in seems like a good goal...?

Also, book patrons: Both books are currently being printed and should be in-hand in December.

Eh… that's all. Go play your Mario Odyssey or Wolfenstein or whatever. Be free, live life. Enjoy.

Super R-Type retrospective: Bydo your time | Super NES Works #008

Irem's classic shooter series makes its debut on a Nintendo home console at last with a remixed conversion of R-Type II. And it's… OK. Riddled with slowdown and hilariously unfair, Super R-Type really has quite a lot in common with Gradius III. Not a terrible game, but a little bit of a letdown.

I got this game for Christmas right after the SNES launch; our dad had unexpectedly brought home a launch-day console with F-Zero as a surprise reward for good behavior. I thought it was amazing and felt really frustrated that I couldn't get good at it no matter how much I worked; it wasn't until playing the PS1 R-Types conversion that I understood just how hard they tried to screw American console gamers.

You got that little prog rock reference in, at least! Never knew Giger designed that ELP sleeve.
