Hi everyone, I wanted to post a quick note here at the end of all things (well, all things related to 2014) to express my immense gratitude for your backing here on Patreon over the past few months. Whether you've been signed up since the start or just jumped in yesterday, I can't express how much your support means to me. It's not really the money — that's mainly just helped me offset my terrible habit of getting overly enthusiastic about side ventures and sinking tons of money I can't afford to spend on them (thanks to Patreon, I've only lost a modest amount of money on Game Boy World and related projects instead of a ton of cash). No, it's the fact that there's a place for the sort of work I want to create, and people who want to help create it. And that you're supporting me, specifically. It means the world to me, especially in a year that has been as personally difficult for me as 2014. I was hoping to have another video ready to post today, but Anatomy videos are much more demanding than Game Boy World and holidays mean lots of family obligations that make it difficult to spend time in front of a computer. So my apologies for that; everyone leaves town tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to throwing myself wholeheartedly into the upcoming video I have queued up. In the meantime, I will definitely be expanding Game Boy World beyond Game Boy in 2015. The system is a gem, but it's also deeply limited and it can be tough to find much to say about its simple games. I've had the most fun with the Super Mario Land and Final Fantasy Legend videos, the two most substantial titles to date, and I want to be able to sink my teeth into meatier games on a more regular basis. The link attached to this post will lead you to one of two work-in-progress sites I've been working on to complement GBW. Which isn't to say GBW is going away. I just want to mix things up a bit. I'll probably also be cutting back on Anatomy of Games considerably and focusing more on turning older Anatomy series into video than on writing new ones (once I'm done with FFVI and River City Ransom). Anatomy in text is definitely the least popular thing I'm producing here, whereas it's VERY well-received in video form. I must obey the voice of the people! So basically, more video, fewer words in 2015. But fear not; the printed word isn't dead. My ultimate goal for 2015 is to make my work count more by focusing on quality over quantity: I'll be producing more video and fewer written articles in general, but the written content will (I hope) be more substantial, like the material I used to produce for GameSpite Journal. Anyway, that's a taste of things to come. I hope you'll stick around. And if not, well, thanks for your support so far! All 157 of you are, collectively, amazing human beings.
