PhotoStack, my web-based batch photo editor, launched back in May. I've just rolled out the first new feature — a new export function that's faster and generally works better!

For browsers that support JavaScript Promises (Firefox 29+, Chrome 33+, Edge 12+, and Safari 7.1+), PhotoStack now processes images for export on separate threads. This speeds up the export process, and prevents your browser from being locked up.

Because images can be processed as raw data streams ("blobs") in this mode, instead of Data URLs, PhotoStack also consumes less RAM. For older browsers, PhotoStack will continue to use the old export function, which has also been slightly improved.

Update (7/12/2019): I've added two more features to PhotoStack since this post. First, you can now images from Dropbox, and more cloud services may be supported in the future.

Also, if you use Chrome 73 on Windows or MacOS, and you have PhotoStack installed as a desktop app, a badge appears on the icon when exports are complete:

This is handy for when you're exporting lots of images (or very large images);  you can leave PhotoStack going in the background and then get a visual indication when it's done. I hope the badge web feature comes to more browsers and platforms soon, but right now it's only on Chrome for Mac/Windows.
