This page ended up very different from the script, mainly to save space. I overstuffed the page with dialogue so we did some trimming while keeping the gist the same. X&P's activities at Capecon reflect a growing trend of e-thots going to conventions and really just making money by appearing there. The merch they sell is really just an extension of their own personal brand bought because people like them, not because they think the merch is worthwhile. It's a lot like the Tiger handheld versions of popular video games back in the 90s, or mobile versions of console games today. You buy it because it's something you recognize, not because it's actually good. It makes a lot of money and X&P are cleaning up here!
