This page is the beginning of Selfie Showdown, which is pretty much exactly what you think it is. Cheesecake is one of the main goals of this comic, and an episode centering around selfies is a great way to achieve that goal. It helps that there's a lot of comedy to be worked out of the situation too.

Xatra was always intended to get...meatier like this. My inspiration for her transformation was Dragon Ball Z, specifically how King Kai's planet has ten times Earth's gravity. With that in mind, I had an idea that Xatra's planet would have lower gravity than Earth, and Earth's higher gravity would have...interesting effects on her bodyfat distribution. Now, Earth's gravity is not 100% to blame, she had to gain that bodyfat in the first place, but that's to be addressed in a later episode.

The opening line by Salvadora is another Homestar Runner reference, to a line uttered by Strong Bad in Strong Bad Email #196: "hiding"
