Hi everyone! We're so grateful for the killer support we've had for our starting month. After making a few ships, trials, errors and explorations, we want your opinion on the content before diving into this new month.

As you may have noticed, we upload our files in PNG format. It seemed like the natural choice due to the transparency it gave to images, allowing people to swap out backgrounds below the ships. The issue with this format though is that it often amounts to huge file sizes.

Usually for our medium to small ships it's manageable, but as we want to branch out into bigger ships like carriers or motherships, it becomes an issue (notice our latest post being separated into many zips).

So we're considering switching to WebP which will hopefully significantly cut down the file sizes. But before we do this, we want to make sure the community is happy with that decision.

The benefit of smaller files is that it makes uploading a lot easier on our end. And on your end it means less zip files, less storage space taken up and less laggy VTTs. The file quality will be the same regardless. Transparency is still supported also.

Please let us know which one you'd prefer or if you have an alternative suggestion, let us know in the comments below!

I don't really care either way

I just use paint.net to instantly convert the PNGs to WEBP. Anyone that CAN use the format (I'm so sorry Roll20 users), should. It's insane how much smaller the filesizes are without quality loss.
