Dragon Slaying is the magic itself. it is not hereditary. However, I have read (But don't know if its cannon) that a child of a dragon slayer has a natural magical affinity with their parents element. For example if Natsu has a kid, his kid would be VERY strong with fire magic. Again, I dont know if it's canon.
