This is where I stopped defending the creator because it was undeniable at this point that Lucy is just a target to him. She is the only one that is repeatedly beaten within an inch of her life with no chance to actually fight back. And this isn't even her last time getting billed in this arc alone.

They censor in the anime but if I'm remember Lucy's states is even worse in the manga. Honestly Lucy is done totally dirty in this arc and that's why I really have a love-hate relationship with the arc. They do her dirty for the plot and for us to hate some characters, in a way I can understand, I get it but also it's so annoying at one point when it's always Lucy? And the fact she don't get to give back all the shit she got make it even more annoying. Also I get they want us to hate some characters and for plots etc but because of this, I see some hole in the writing, and honestly it's kind of suck Sure Minerva is strong and there is no way she could have won but I personnally see a big hole (like with Flare fight with several) : We have seen Lucy's spirits coming in and out as they want, even Horologium when the danger is high (and I'm sorry but seeing her state it was) so really doesn't make sense to me. Even without her keys, one spirit may have been able to come out, at least to help her getting out of this, like?? They highlight as if she is defendless without her keys when it's not totally true
