Each Dragon Slayer generation have different variables to how they work and operate. Dragon Slayers using Dragon Force powered from an infused dragon lacrima achieve it easier, but it's a lot smaller of a buff. Laxus and Cobra only got a chunk stronger, where as Natsu becomes multiple times stronger from Dragon Force. So different ways of becoming Dragon Slayers can include some varied details, but so does whatever method is used to achieve Dragon Force resulting in different degrees of amplification.
