Patreon Update - April 2023 (Patreon)
Content
Hi everyone, I just wanted to release an update and information on some changes I will be making to this Patreon. Let's get into it.
Patreon Name Change
I have decided to change the name of this Patreon slightly, shortening it to "Snowy's Maps". I just thought it was too long beforehand!
Tier Reshuffling
- All public maps (day and night versions) will be a lower resolution (70ppi) and have watermarks. Existing public maps here will be changed to reflect this.
- Introduction of a £1 tier, which will include day/night variations (with one or two others) at 140ppi, without a watermark. This tier will become the new "Wizard's Apprentice".
- The existing "Wizard's Apprentice" tier will be named "Adept Arcanist", and its privileges will remain unchanged.
- The existing "Adept Arcanist" tier will become "Mage Master" and bring a new added benefit - Foundry modules with each map pack. However, to reflect this extra work, the price will be raised to £5 for new Patreon members. Patreon members who sign up before May 31st will remain on the £4 legacy tier but will gain this added benefit.
- A trial period of "Archmage", a one-slot commission up to 30x30 once a month for £30. This period will last between June 1st and August 31st, after which I will decide if I can continue to support this tier.
Masterpost Restructuring
With the new benefits and reshuffling, I have decided to redo all the master posts. Existing Patreon members might have noticed that there has been a new one added today. I intend to have one for the new lower tier and DD2VTT and manifest URLs for Foundry. I'm excited to see a tidier Patreon! :D
Shifting Focus
I want to give Patreon members more exclusive maps and content, so I have decided to keep to my regular schedule of at least two map packs a month, but one will be exclusive to Patrons, and the other will contain a public release. All Patrons will have voting power, but the new Mage Master tier can suggest options in these polls.
I also want to release an additional "public" map pack each month, bringing it up to three map packs a month. However, this will also have a three-month trial period (June-August), and Patreon members will not vote on this pack. I feel that this balance will allow me to explore new avenues while also not removing existing privileges.
Why the change?
When I started this Patreon, I wasn't sure what to expect and how I would like everything to be structured. However, I have decided I would like to focus more on building up my community and offering more exclusive content for my supporters here on Patreon.
Why a trial period?
The start of June marks the end of my university course. I will have more free time to experiment, see what works and what doesn't. In September, I will be starting a new graduate course, and I am not entirely sure what to expect. My primary goal will be to maintain the two releases per month as it is now, but it is the other content I want to test and see if it's manageable before I dive into my new course.
Final Words
And lastly, I want to reassure my existing Patreon members that I do not intend to remove any existing rights to either tier and that I hope these changes will be beneficial for you too!
Thank you for supporting me once again!
