What an incredibly horrible person she's become, no empathy for her husband or more importantly her child, I sense that as she becomes more male, the more self centred she'll become, I fear for her husband.....

I'm wondering if part of the reason they go crazy is because of how everyone reacts to the change. They feel they have no one. Jane felt so alone. Her husband wanted nothing to do with her (before she started sleeping around) and her daughter called her a freak. She can't even play the piano right because her hands are too big. Then again, Amalia didn't go crazy. Maybe because she knew it was coming and decided to remove herself from everyone while it was happening so she didn't have to deal with the rejection. Only after and by that time she had fully transformed into a man and was not aggressive or self-centered.
