Just as a cool FYI!
For every 5 seconds of animation it took 12hrs to render.
The video is approx 3 min long - that works out to:
144 hrs per min of animation,
multiplied by 3 minutes, That is
432 hrs of total time rendering.
That ends up being:
18 days worth of non stop rendering (24hr periods).
If I was to divide that into 8hr work days that would equal: 54 days of solid work just letting the computer render.
On top of that there is an inordinate amount of time that is for designing the sets and lighting them.
- Sculpting and posing characters
- Post production work
- Putting the video together
- Special Effects,
- Sound Effects,
- Voice over recording,
- Soundtracking
On top of all this I was bogged down for several weeks because of that pesky emergency surgery that I needed.
All this to say -
This has been quite the adventure the last couple months - and I want to say a sincere thank you for those of you that have stuck with me for the learning curve of animation as well the medical mess and all the other production stuff that goes into this.
Now I know why Pixar has teams of people working non stop for 2+ years developing full length feature films.
For a one man shop - I’d say I’m rockin it pretty well!
Thank you all again! I can’t wait to get started on the next comic here in the coming week!
Stay tuned!
Pete
