Sannin basically translates to Ninja. So they’re the three Legendary ninja of the Hidden Leaf! Because Hanzo was so powerful and known throughout the ninja world, everyone soon learned about and respected the Sannin of they had Hanzo’s stamp of approval. It doesn’t talk about it in the Anime but in the Manga, Hanzo and Granny Chiyo had many equal fights over their lifetime and she was one of the few who lived after battling him. Granny Chiyo is one of the strongest Ninja the Sand or shinobi world has ever had. Thought I’d mention it since you don’t learn about it in the Anime!
