your version of a cacaodeamon

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Named for the Greek word ακοδαίμων kakodaimōn, meaning an "evil spirit" that crossed  over into the Enochian language sometime in the sixteenth century.

Cacodaemonia is the name of the mental condition that causes some to believe they've been possessed, deriving from the influence of the Cacodaemon.

Cacodaemons are low ranking, but still powerful demons that are evolved from Lemures. Though Lemures are the lowest ranking demons, they can still grow in power among the pit as they feast on those around them, feeding on sin and growing in strength, stretching and contorting into larger, more dangerous worm like entities and slipping into the material world. Due to them maintaining their Lemure forms for a lengthy period, their throats become more and more powerful, allowing them to gain more and more control over their voices and the sounds that emerge from them, harnessing their wailing cries and transforming them into something even more dangerous.

In the same way that Lemures can infest a creature and grow into a succubus through the emergence process, the Lemure can possess a creature that it has prepared through it's screams and contort the body of the possessed into a horrid one eyed creature and evolve it's self into a Cacodaemon. Though it isn't as powerful as a Succubus or an Incubus, it does tend to be a much more feasible task as the process is quicker and many Cacodaemons could still eventually become succubi or other various more powerful demons or devils. Most Cacodaemons are male, though females do exist.

Cacodaemons are one eyed creatures with various sets of claw like limbs they use for combat, and several small sets of arms on it's body that manipulate fine objects. During the process of evolving into a Cacodaemon, the possessed tends to have it's head engorge and grow larger as it's body seems to bloat until it contorts into the creature here. Their legs become useless and often times their genitals or intestines enlarge and extend and become a snake like tail for them to utilize in locomotion. They are called Noise Making Demons because of the large inflated sacs on their head, which they can inflate like the Vocal Sac of a frog, allowing them to release a horrid sonic utterance that can stun their enemies, cause panic, or simply exasperate madness or paranoia in a creature. By remaining in an intangible and invisible form, the Cacodaemon can cause noises and "Hauntings" through a creature's home and ruin it's life, driving it to become influenced by the Cacodaemon by it's song. It can choose to focus it's sound waves on a single creature so that only they can hear it, and uses these afflictions to madden those it stalks, or to cause confusion on the battlefield.

When a demon possesses a creature, it results in a Daemonifer in many cases which is very zombie like. This stems from a direct possession of the creature which results in a Daemonifer, Whereas the Cacodaemonia stems from possession due to proximity influence from a demon or demon magic. Those afflicted with Cacodaemonia are known as "The Possessed" and are often overcome with a flu like sickness at first, and begin to devolve into animalistic or wild behavior. The Possessed will hear the Lemure whisper to them and attempt to influence their actions, as well as scare and manipulate them and those around them. As a creature grows more fearful and physically ill from the possession, the Lemure gains more control over the creature and it can utilize it's various malignant abilities through them as a focus. All demons can do this, however Lemures that are becomming Cacodaemons are specialized in the act.

The Cacodaemon also possesses the power of the Evil Eye, a Hex power that witches are capable of conjuring. The Evil eye can afflict those viewed by it with malevolent magic and a dark curse that will cause misfortune to befall them. It can be various minor things such as causing a creature to be off of their balance or clumsy, or it can cause them to deteriorate in health, becoming sickly and frail. The true power of the Cacodaemon's evil eye comes in the form of being able to connect it to a creature it has inflicted with it's Cacodaemonia, and the ability to pierce or damage it's evil eye to inflict the wounds on those it has influenced. Other powerful demons often keep Cacodaemons around so that they can use their singular eye as a scrying pool of sorts and view those afflicted with Cacodaemonia, but they can also target the afflicted with their various magic abilities from a distance.

Not all of those afflicted with Cacodaemonia become Cacodaemons, and most of them are afflicted until death or until the demon is driven out. Only in the worst cases can a Lemure actually possess a creature and evolve into a Cacodaemon. In most of these situations, a Lemure stalks a creature from the day of it's birth and slowly wears it down over time until it can merge with it and evolve into a Cacodaemon. In hell or in wars against demons. Cacodaemons tend to keep possessed with them that they send to attack their enemies while they manipulate their foes with their sonic and ocular capabilities.

Though they are demons, other forces have been able to create or utilize Cacodaemons, and their sonic powers seem to call out to a place of darkness within the universe, echoing and resonating to the Great Nothing which hears their call and answers, often time causing the Cacodaemon to be much more capable than a normal, already formidable one....
