This is one of those episodes that if you understand the meta commentary it makes it a lot better. It seemed like you were picking up that they were trying to say something, but not sure it resonated and landed. Here's the basic synopsis: It's a commentary on people basically saying the show has become too formulaic and run it's course and that it's time for the show to end. The gang themselves are no longer having fun, because they're just doing the same stuff they always do, guarding the base, because it's safe, easy, and it keeps making them money and being successful. While the others are kind of bored playing the same way they always do, Dennis doesn't want to disrupt the flow and success, he wants to just keep getting that money. Big Mo is basically other shows that are coming for their spot at the top of the sitcom game. Newer shows that are getting a lot of attention and publicity for being edgy and fresher. In the end, the gang decides that since they're no longer having fun, it is indeed time to end the show (quit the game). Big Mo arrives only for the Sunny crew to show up and say they're not going anywhere. I believe what the cast have said is that they were basically in a rut the last few seasons, distracted by other projects and just going through the motions because it worked. They'd make money, people would tune in, and it was safe and easy. But with this episode, they're acknowledging that and committing to getting back to having fun. And you can see that in Seasons 15 and 16, which are an improvement on Seasons 13 & 14.
