Light has a god complex wanting to rid the world of bad people, nevermind the fact that he's deleting folks and those who try and stop him. L wishes to arrest Kira for his crimes but clearly has no problem using proxies as shields, is there really all that much of a difference between actively deleting someone and using someone else as delete bait to prove your theories about the first person deleter?
