Yeah lol, I think he means "home made" hot dogs as in, didn't buy them at a gas station or a hot dog stand or something, but bought weiners at the grocery store and buns, and pan fried or microwaved or toaster oven'd or whatever cooked the weiners and made the dogs. Definitely a wording you wouldn't hear normally haha, since home made makes it sound as if more cooking is involved than 'heating it up' and that it's superior. I find that joke funny. It's like for them hot dogs are a fancy dish that is being cooked home made instead of a frozen dinner version or something.
