Woo, I've been waiting a long time for you to get to this episode, it's one of my favorites! I do agree, the B plot in this episode with Hatred isn't great, but the concept of a former boy adventurers therapy group is just hilarious. And they're all parodies- Wonder Boy, yes voiced by Patton Oswalt, obviously a Robin parody. This was the first one, and yeah Captain Sunshine kicked him out when he turned 18, and replaced him with a new Wonder Boy (the one that the Monarch killed, I believe). Lance and Dale Hale are Hardy Boys parodies, and also the Menendez Brothers, who were infamous late 80s/early 90s for killing their parents for their money. Ro-Boy is a parody of Astro Boy. Regarding your Hatred thoughts - can't really answer those without spoilers. Yes, in season 2, there was a few references to him bad touching Hank. Not sure to what extent. But I don't think Rusty really ever chose Hatred to be the new bodyguard, that was OSI assigning him to the Venture family, same as how (coincidentally) Hatred assigned Brock to the Ventures.

Jackson Publick said the voice actor for Action Johnny likes to make fun of a lot of the lines he writes for him and just added the over explanation "after I put herpes in there".

Sgt Hatred was part of a failed super soldier program where they beefed him up some but accidently made him a pedo. Not sure what episode that happens in but you see him break loose from an exam table and attack a generals child. Hatred is pretty old too so the serum may of made him age a bit slower. One time he is quoted as saying he's overweight and over 50 when he is trying to do something strenuous.

The show's creators are on the record that Sgt Hatred didn't actually do anything inappropriate to Hank (besides whatever "normal" villainous nonsense led to him capturing the boys in the first place) but that Hank didn't have any idea what was appropriate or not because he was so clueless.

Well, that's a spoiler. Also, I don't believe the super soldier serum itself made him a pedo, it's far more likely he was secretly always one and the serum messed with his inhibitons/emotional balance, leading to him losing control.
