The creators did confirm that captain sunshine did not like children "that way". Dunno what the kiss at the end was about tho lol.

Hmm, did my comment get deleted? Weird. The kiss at the end, btw, was a reference to The Godfather.

If you remember back in the early second season, the Monarch asks 21 and 24 if they had sent Wonderboy's remains back to Captain Sunshine. Also, in the episode 3.1 where the monarch first meets Sheila, he's telling a story about how he tricked Sunshine into thinking he was invulnerable. In this episode Sunshine says something along the line of "you may be invulnerable" to the Monarch. So many callbacks in this show.

It's a little ambiguous what the deal is with Capt. Sunshine. People keep making comments like "Oh, Cap, not another one." and "As long as he stays away from my kid." But that could just as easily be about him getting his wards killed as about the nature of his relationships with them. I mean, obviously, the writers intended to raise the issue, but it is unclear if it is just a fake out. And, yes, the kiss at the end was from The Godfather.

It's left up to the viewer just based off the episode itself, but the creators have come out and stated explicitly that he is not a pedophile, and the entire joke of the episode was how everything he did came across that way, even though he was oblivious to it.
