WWE 2K22 will be coming out next March after it was delayed from its original 2021 release date. This past week 2K put out a video highlighting some of the features that will be in the new game, but one thing not mentioned was where fans of the game will be able to play it.

The previous WWE mainline game in WWE 2K20 was released on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC through Steam. We have learned that as of right now that is the plan for next year's game. Media members are now allowed to apply for a code so they can review it next year leading up to the game's launch, but something interesting happened with that over the last week.

Two weeks ago code requests for media members and online streamers went up and specified the only platforms that would be available to request were Playstation 5 and Xbox One. Then this week after the latest "Hit List" trailer went out 2K changed the requests to include Steam but also changed the Playstation request from PS5 to PS4. At this time no "next-gen", PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, codes are being made available to request.

We reached out to a source at 2K and were told that at this time that is all that is to be made available. When asked if the game will be coming out for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S we were told that information on this was currently unknown as they are working hard to have the game out by next March to as many players as possible. Remember if you own a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S the previous-gen version will still work on your new console.

At this time it does somewhat look like that game may be released on previous-gen platforms only. One thing we were told is that official word on this will be announced in January and as they get closer to January and the launch of the game in March, they will have a better understanding of what consoles their game will work best and release on.

One last note is that 2K and Visual Concepts latest game NBA 2K22 that launched back on September 10th was released on Playstation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Looking at that does make it odd that they could be having an issue with WWE 2K22 on next-gen consoles since they released a game on it just a few months ago.
